Tenerife Resorts - Las Caletillas

Wednesday, 11th November 2009

Las Caletillas is situated in the North Eastern part of Tenerife, about 8 miles from the capital Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and only two miles to Candelaria. Tenerife Airport North is close by, and Tenerife Airport South about 30 miles.

Tourism is relatively new to Las Caletillas, and the town remains largely quiet and residential. It is best suited as a base for visiting Santa Cruz de Tenerife, La Laguna, and the rest of the Island.

Visitors to Las Caletillas are multinational, but Spanish people are in the majority. Many Spanish visitors stay here in order to visit the sacred Basilica de Nuestra Senora de Candelaria (the Patron Saint)

You will find that English is not widely spoken so remember to bring your phrasebook.

The resort has a good selection of bars and restaurants, but little nightlife. There is a pebbly beach, allowing swimming in the sea. The town of Candelaria is close by and has a nice volcanic sand beach. Candelaria is a very pretty town, and well worth a visit.

Not far away is the impressive La Esperanza Forest with its Pine and Eucalyptus trees. This is a great walking experience.

The main priority for visitors to Las Caletillas is to visit Santa Cruz de Tenerife, the picturesque and historic capital. Close by is La Laguna, which has been declared a World Heritage Site.

The Tiede Volcano, and the National Park are easy to reach, and are another must visit location.
